Like a Foot Rub for the Soul....

Northwoods Nature Retreat
October 16 - 18, 2009

Geared for individuals and groups alike, the Northwoods Nature Retreat at Lakewoods is for folks of all ages and physical abilities who'd like to learn and experience healing practices to improve their quality of life.

The perfect setting.
What better setting for communing with nature than ... nature! Here at Lakewoods, you can become one with nature while striving to improve your quality of life.

Our conferences and instructors are selected to make the most of our location on the shores of Lake Namakagon, in the midst of the Chequamegon National Forest.

A gentle practice.
The retreat is your opportunity to slow down, gain more support and get more space. We'll explore a core practice of inviting the inner organs to extend and bend, twist and turn, and come along in our familiar asana practice.

Experiencing this approach to our postures allows you to notice habits that may or may not be useful, giving you a more conscious, gentler and more integrated way of moving and being.

Just relax!
How can we bring more ease into all that we do? We have an innate ability to relax deeply. In your time here, you'll focus on how to set up the conditions to allow relaxation to be part of your daily practice - both on and off the mat.

Please call us at (800) 930-6657 for more information.

You'll do gentle stretching to quiet the muscles and breath awareness to help quiet the brain, becoming more able to experience a quieter nervous system. With attention to comfort and ease in supported poses, you'll be opening yourself to the simple joy of relaxation!

Wilderness ... is a spiritual necessity, an antidote to the high pressure of modern life,
a means of regaining serenity and equilibrium."

- Sigurd Olson, Wisconsin Native/Lover of Nature

Lynette will guide you through her "Gentle Yoga" and "Restorative Yoga" sessions.

Lynette Smith's yoga studies began in 1979 with Barbara Linderman, and she has been teaching since 1985. She is a founding member of Inward Bound Yoga in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she continues to offer classes and workshops.

Her community interests have involved joining others to create a mindfulness-based wellness program at the Michigan Heart and Vascular Institute and, currently, teaching at the Wellness Community, a cancer support program. Certified in Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, she also works with students one on one. Lynette values the Spiritual Guidance Training with Atum O'Kane, as well as her intensive training in the Enneagram in the Narrative Tradition as a means of connecting for herself and with others.

Continual studies with Judith Lasater support and inspire her interest in anatomy and physiology, yoga philosophy and therapeutics, and restorative yoga. Lynette is certified in Relax and Renew. Her instructional style focuses on postural alignment, breath awareness, yoga philosophy, meditation, and laughter.

Also, various vendors will be showcasing their alternative health, nutrition and wellness products, including Nature's Prime Organics (NPO), a new addition to the Lakewoods' Lakeside dining menu. NPO will be featuring their organic cooking and nutrition.

And of course, Lakewoods will be offering our full compliment of resort activities, including pontoon boat tours and golf.
