Fishing Around Lakewoods Resort
On the shores of Lake Namakagon and surrounded by Chequamegon National Forest you’ll find our Lakewoods Resort to be an ideal fishing spot. We’re located on the 10th largest natural lake in Wisconsin, Namakagon is home to a wide range of fish: Walleye, Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Bluegill, Perch, Panfish, Northern, and Trophy Muskie. As a renown Hayward Area Lake, you’ll find numerous great fisheries, so you can rest assured the fish will always be biting. The forest is also home to several streams and rivers which all offer fantastic trout fishing and even fly fishing for Muskellunge!
Trout Fishing
Trout fishing requires some peculiar customs, like kissing the first trout you catch then releasing it. Wait for the trout fishing accessories, a vest with a plethora of pockets, pit-high waders, a wearable basket to stash your catch, and most of all they use strange vocabulary, like hackles, dead drift, midge, and Woolly Bugger. Once you get acclimated to these odd customs, you’ll spend most of your time hiking rivers and streams, watching wildlife. You’ll find us to be a haven for both amateur and hard-core fly fishers. Namekagon River is known for its wild brown trouts and brook varieties.
Lake Superior Fishing
If you’re hoping to get some big water fishing experience, you’ll want to head over to Lake Superior. It’s approximately 40 miles away, and it’s the greatest trout and salmon lake fisheries in the Midwest.
