Hiking, Hunting & More!fall1.jpg

In the fall, the Chequamegon National Forest offers a breathtaking setting for you and your family to explore. Hiking trails lead right from Lakewoods Resort and take you into a pristine Northwoods wilderness. The weather is still warm enough for scenic cruises on Lake Namakagon, yet cool enough to use your room’s fireplace in the evenings. Play golf on the incredible Forest Ridges Golf Course, fish for Musky or take part in one of the fall events at Lakewoods!

Whitetail deer, black bear, ruffed grouse and waterfowl are the most commonly hunted species, but don't forget the woodcock, gray squirrel, snowshoe hare, coyote and fox. For the hunter who prefers to walk, many miles of trails have been developed and offer signage, and there area over 11,000 acres of non-motorized designated wilderness areas to hunt as well. Lakewoods Resort sells permits and tags, although some applications need be done in advance. Regulation books & recommended guides are available from our front desk.
